What is the Melbourne Pasifika Festival?
The Melbourne Pasifika Festival is a free, family-friendly community event celebrating Pacific Island culture, held annually in Melbourne’s south-east. It brings together dance groups, musicians, food stalls, arts and crafts vendors, and children’s activities into a single day dedicated to sharing Pasifika heritage with the wider community.
The festival was founded by WFWP Australia (Women’s Federation for World Peace Australia) to celebrate the Pacific Islander communities living in Melbourne while raising funds and awareness for development projects across the Pacific Islands. What started as a smaller community gathering has grown into one of Melbourne’s most vibrant multicultural festivals.
Beyond the entertainment, the festival carries a purpose: proceeds and awareness generated on the day support WFWP Australia’s ongoing charity work. What can I expect to see and do at the festival?
The festival is structured around four experiences running throughout the day: food and craft stalls, cultural dance performances, live bands, and family activities.
Stalls open from 10-11am with traditional Pacific Island food, arts, crafts, merchandise, and community support stalls. Cultural dance groups perform through the afternoon and evening.
For families, the children’s activities area runs in parallel, with face painting, jumping castles, and rugby clinics for kids and teens. Come join us and experience Pacific Island culture in one place. Entry is free.
